Whole Transciptome Shotgun Sequencing

Profiling the HeLa S3 transciptome using randomly primed cDNA and massively parallel short-read sequencing.
As one of the few “early access” sites for Illumina’s Solexa sequencers, the BC Genome Sciences Centre participated in developing various application of this “next-generation” sequencing technology.  One such method was Whole Transcriptome Shotgun Sequencing (WTSS), which is described in this paper.  Application of this method to querying gene expression, alternative splicing, gene discovery and mutation are all described.
