Previously unknown genes have been found through SAGE analysis in androgen independent prostate cancer.
Scientists in the Prostate Cancer group at Canada's Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre released a study identifying new genes which are expressed in late prostate cancer, but not in early. These transcripts were discovered using sequence based technology, which does not depend on previous knowledge, and several were found to be tissue specific. The role of these putative genes and their utility in therapy is under investigation.
