The Bovine Genome Sequencing Program: Full-ORF cDNA Sequencing Project at the BC Cancer Agency Genome Sciences Centre aims to sequence 9,984 clones, each representing a unique full-length transcript, over a 3 year period. The project is led jointly by Drs. Marco Marra, Robert Holt and Steven Jones of the GSC and Dr. Stephen Moore of the University of Alberta. The project is part of the larger Bovine Genome Sequencing Project, an international initiative to sequencing the Bovine genome led by the US National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), with contributions from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service and Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service; the state of Texas; Genome Canada through Genome British Columbia; The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization of Australia; Agritech Investments Ltd., Dairy Insight, Inc. and AgResearch Ltd., all of New Zealand; the Kleberg Foundation; and the National, Texas and South Dakota Beef Check-off Funds. Distribution and analysis of the cDNA clones and sequences is being done in collaboration with the Mammalian Gene Collection.

Data Access

The Bovine full length clone sequences will be available through the Mammalian Gene Collection. The physical clone resources will be distributed through The I.M.A.G.E. Consortium. For more information on the libraries used in this project, please see the following page: Bovine Library Information
