The Healthy Aging Study

The BC Cancer Agency is recruiting volunteers to participate in a study of Healthy Aging. The goal of this study is to identify inherited genetic factors associated with healthy aging and resistance to age-related diseases.
We are looking for people who:
- Are 85 years of age or older.
And
- Have never been diagnosed with a major health concern, such as:
- Cardiovascular or heart disease
- MI (myocardial infarction) or heart attack
- Stroke or TIA (ischemic attack)
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Lung Disease or emphysema
- Dementia
- Diabetes mellitus
- Cancer
We also welcome any people who are 100 years old, or older.
Participation in the study consists of:
- Answering questions regarding health and family history by questionnaire.
- Providing a saliva or small blood sample (approximately 2 - 3 tablespoons).
- Providing contact information fo r other eligible relatives.
